The Story of
Madalyn

 

Madalyn Jane Lim was the eldest of her siblings. An accountant who spent her professional life at Main Roads WA, Madalyn was a humble, private person who would be quietly impressed by the legacy created in her name.

Madalyn had a long battle with a rare heart tumour condition which involved a number of significant surgical procedures since 2012. It is with the greatest sadness that Madalyn passed away just days after surgery, Madalyn touched many hearts with her courage and determination.

​

Her father, Mataki had a close relationship with his daughter who he remembers as a beautiful, gentle person. In the final months of her life the pair collaborated on Madalyn's First Home, in order to ensure Madalyn had something to look forward to help with her recovery. She visited the workshop and saw the prototype of the replica Batmobile, however tragically not the final product.

Despite Madalyn’s failing health, in 2019 father and daughter were able to enjoy a holiday in Singapore which resulted in many happy memories and impressed on Mataki the need to cherish every moment.

“She was a very grateful person. She always said ‘Hi Dad’, ‘See you Dad’. She always said ‘Dad’ and I miss her voice so much.”

Whilst Mataki is heartbroken over his loss, he feels some peace in that she was surrounded by love from family and friends, as she began her next journey free of pain and suffering.

​

Madalyn was an elegant and graceful soul, and an inspiration of innocence and love. Madalyn’s memory will remain in our hearts always.
